As a mom of two, I'm not going to tell you that you will want to relive the newborn phase or that it's easy or all beautiful. I sure do not miss the sleep deprivation, leaky boobs, and the constant diapers.
But... now that my babies are four and seven, I do treasure the memories I have of their first moments of life with us.
Right now, your baby is smaller than they'll ever be. Your older kids are so excited to welcome their new partner in crime. And you — exhausted, overwhelmed, still healing — are living through a chapter you'll want to remember clearly once the newborn fog lifts, not through blurry phone photos taken one-handed while holding a baby.
A newborn session isn't just about getting "nice pictures." It's about making sure this moment doesn't just blur past you.
-When you book with me, I write your due date in my calendar. This is just so I know your photoshoot is coming up. You shoot me a text when baby arrives, and you assess how you are feeling. We work on your recovery timeline.
-I also send you a digital guide that goes over everything you need to know about your in-home newborn session, from outfits to prepping your home and your older children.
-If the session is at home, you send me snaps of your home during the brightest part of the day so I can begin to envision and plan around your home decor.
-On session day, I arrive with a bassinet, neutral props for your older children, clothing you picked out from my client closet, and newborn wraps and bows.
-We take our time and work around baby's schedule. We let your older kids run in and out of the photos as they please.
-You receive a professionally edited gallery in 1-2 weeks, and you can order heirloom albums and high-quality prints at this time.
-You also decide how your photos get shared, if at all. There is no "right" answer to sharing, especially when your family lives abroad. We have personally changed our own family's sharing policy several times, and I understand your family's decisions.
Birth and the newborn phase are hard. I will not push you to schedule your session in the first two weeks of baby's life, even though that is the "easiest" time for taking pictures. I write your due date in my calendar, you let me know when baby arrives, and then you decide when you are ready for me to come in and document it all.
I help you pick out something you feel comfortable and beautiful in, whether that is a cozy matching set or a sweater and trousers, I will walk you through your options. I also have a small client closet you can choose clothing from.
I don't put time limits on my in-home newborn photoshoots. A newborn photoshoot at your home can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours. It depends on how many outfits you want to do and how many breaks baby needs to soothe and feed.
Yes, yes, and yes! These are YOUR photos! The little details of your loved ones interacting with you and your bump are precious memories that I want to document. And I have all the tricks to keep your older kiddos happy.
My price for all of my full sessions are €550 total. I also have a Maternity + Newborn Bundle that is priced at €850 for the two full sessions, and a lot of my clients opt for this package.
What you're paying for isn't just photos — it's the guide that prepares you, the client closet that saves you money and stress on outfits, the unlimited time that means nothing is rushed, and the expertise that keeps your baby safe and comfortable throughout. Most clients say it ends up being less stressful (and often less expensive) than trying to coordinate it all themselves.
Yes! I frequently travel to Utrecht, Haarlem, The Hague, Leiden, and more! I do charge a reasonable travel fee depending on the distance and travel time.
Have another question about your newborn fotoshoot I didn't answer? Let me know!
This is genuinely the most common worry, and it's why every session is unlimited in time. We work around your baby's rhythm and take lots of snack and soothing breaks. A fussy baby is simply part of newborn life, nothing I haven't handled before. (In fact, I don't smell like their yummy dinner, so they usually settle easier with me!)
My Maternity & Newborn Photoshoot Bundle is a great option for families who want to capture this season of life in an authentic and relaxed way.
We schedule your maternity session now and then wait and see how you're feeling when baby arrives and schedule the newborn session then. Some parents are ready to do the newborn session immediately and some want to wait a few more weeks. Both are totally okay with me.
The Bundle comes with both full galleries, 50+ images each, personal styling, and use of my Client Closet. And of course, the whole family is welcome to be in both sets of photos. I treat each session as a Family session with an emphasis on Maternity/Newborn.
In the end, your images will tell a cohesive story, meaning you can hang your maternity and newborn images together on the same wall or print them in the same heirloom album.
The Maternity + Newborn Bundle is €850.
"Sim is such a beautiful person inside and out and her photography is just the same! She shot our maternity portraits (literally the day before I went into labor!) and also our newborn portraits. The process was so easy and comfortable and it was like we had known her forever! She played and had conversations with my 5 year old while I had to stop and feed the baby and she was so patient and kind to us! You can tell this is her true passion in life! I am more than thrilled with how the pictures turned out and can not wait to get them printed and hung! Thank you Sim! We miss you already!!!

Sim did a wonderful job of making me comfortable in our maternity session, she offered different lighting choices and poses and made the time fly by, and I usually feel awkward with these things but she made it a positive experience. Not only that, but it was my sons birthday in heaven on the day of the session and she asked me to bring items for the pictures to honor him in a special way. That meant more than anything to me and showed me the type of kind person she is and I hope if anyone needs that kind of person in their life they will find her as well. Her photos are truly amazing and special.
